I’m not gonna act like I haven’t been spending a lot this month because I absolutely have. The good thing is I’ve had more time to really look at what I have and determine if it’s worth keeping. There’s a few things that I’m decluttering and a few that will be staying forever. As always, I never want to pressure anyone to purchase anything that they feel is out of their price range so do what you feel comfortable with. Also none of the links are affiliate links so I don’t make anything if you decide to buy. With that said, let’s get into my April favorites and fails.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick – Malt
Another product that is not new to me and I’ve been reaching for a lot this month. Since I still have to go into work 1-2 days a week I’ve been doing quick, simple looks and using this lipstick as a liner. After applying Malt to the perimeter of my lips I’ll fill the rest in with one of my Elf glosses (mentioned here) or Nyx glosses and blend. Highly recommend trying it with any liquid lipstick you don’t like wearing all over your lips. Click here to buy.
Make Up For Ever HD Underpainting Color Correcting Palette – Dark
I’m still reach for this palette every time I do my makeup. It covers my dark spots effortlessly and works well over most of my primers and under all of my foundations. Awesome product. Click here to buy (also available in Very Light, Light, Medium, Tan, & Deep).
Black Radiance’s True Complexion Contour Palette – Medium to Dark
A few months ago during my Makeup 101 series I mentioned how I didn’t use contour, mostly due to it being an extra step that I didn’t know how to apply. I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and try a contour after watching a number of videos discussing how to use it properly.
After picking this up at Target for about $7, I began practicing my application every evening after work. To my surprise it’s very easy to use and as long as I don’t pile up my brush it applies beautifully. I know I’m late to the game with this product but I can see it becoming a staple for me as I have’t been able to put it down yet. Click here to buy (also available in Light/Medium & Dark/Deep).
The hype is real for their 12-pan and 30-pan palettes. The smaller Edit palettes are a good segue into the brand but the larger ones are where the magic truly happens. Stay tuned for a separate post where I go into detail about each Viseart palette that I have. but you can click here or here if you want to buy any of Viseart’s palettes.
Sonia G.’s Pro Eye Set
I’d been eyeing this set for over 6 months and planned on getting them for my birthday this year since they’re so expensive. Decided to splurge a little early and y’all these brushes are some of the softest brushes I ever placed on my eyes. It felt like they basically blended my shadows for me. One brush in particular, Blender Pro, feels very similar to an Ulta Beauty Large Shadow brush (now discontinued) that I picked up last year but it’s too big for my eyes. I doubt I’ll pick up the face brush set anytime soon but I’m open to it as a Christmas gift. Click here to buy.
All 3 of the primers pictured here broke me out. I’m not sure what the common ingredient is but I’m giving these away as well. I’ll probably throw out the putty because has more of a cream base but the others will be given to someone else to use.
Elf’s Cream Blush
Speaking of Elf, I picked this up a while ago to dip my toe into cream products. Tried applying it before foundation and the blush seemed to separate once it made contact with my skin while simultaneously enhancing my pores. I then tried applying it after foundation and it lifted any product underneath it using my finger or a brush. I feel I gave it a fair shot but it just didn’t work for me so in the trash it goes.
Elf Hydrating Water Essence
Okay let me explain before you think I just hate Elf. I bought this with the intention of using it as a hydrator on my face after toning. I used it one evening and woke up the next day with a few whiteheads. Since it was the only new thing I had used I immediately stopped using it on my face HOWEVER it does wonders on my body. After showering I apply this essence to my skin while it’s still damp and then go in with my Dove lotion to seal it in. Both products are not enough on their own but when used together they do a wonderful job at hydrating.
I’d like to hear from you guys on what your April favorites and fails were. Also let me know if you have any thought about the products mentioned.
