Eyeshadows are one of my favorite makeup items to try out so. I have to say that I am usually not a fan of drugstore eyeshadows so when I saw that Elf had released the Bite Size Eyeshadow mini palettes, I wanted to watch as many reviews as I could before purchasing. Yes, they were only $3 but I didn’t want to get them because they was inexpensive; I wanted to get them because they were good quality.
At $3 each with 8 varieties it was hard deciding which 2 to get but I picked Truffles and Carnival Candy.
Truffles is a quad with 3 mattes shades (caramel, dark brown, and black) and 1 shimmer shade (taupe). To me it looks to be more neutral in tone with shades that easily show up on deep skin. I’ve been loving neutral colors lately and this one is perfect for that. I found the mattes to be smooth, easy to blend, and pigmented without being too hard pressed in the pan. It’s a cute palette for beginners that don’t want to spend a lot of money on eyeshadow but still want something of good quality.
Caramel used for the transition, Dark brown used for the crease and outer V, Black used for the outer V & upper and lower lash lines, Taupe shimmer used in the inner corner, Navy from Carnival Candy on the lower lash.
Carnival Candy is a quad also with 3 mattes (peach nude, caramel, and rust) and 1 shimmer shade (navy blue). The mattes in this one are a bit more warm toned and play nicely with the navy. The navy shimmer is super smooth and I felt it applies nice with a dense brush or my finger. The mattes also blend easily and just the right amount of pigmentation. Another one that’s good for beginners and enthusiasts alike.
Caramel used for the transition and inner lid, Rust used for the outer V and slightly in the crease, Peachy nude used in the inner corner, Navy used on the lower lash.
In both pics I used the Urban Decay Primer Potion eyeshadow primer and Benefit Precisely My Brow pencil. Swatches were applied to my bare arm with my finger.
It is important to note that I didn’t experiencing any creasing and they lasted about 8 hours on my eyes. I honestly didn’t want to wash my face because everything looked so good after being on my face all that time.
Also, I didn’t have to pack the color on. With just one tap of my brush the pigment was there. Other drugstore eyeshadow formulas required me to pack the color on and even then it looked faded. These are way better than any other drugstore shadows I’ve tried.
Not gonna lie, I’m tempted to get the rest of the Bite Size Eyeshadow Mini palettes but I’m gonna hold off for now. These mini palettes are available on elfcosmetics.com as well as Ulta, Target, and Walmart. If you’ve already picked any of these up or plan on doing so, let me know what you think.
