3 Limited Edition Palettes That I Still Use and Love

limited edition palettes

I don’t know about the rest of you but I’ve been finding myself a bit nostalgic lately. From watching my favorite Disney movies and tv shows to listening to music from the 90s that reminds me of a more simpler time in my life. On the same token I’ve been reaching for some of the older products in my collection including 3 limited edition palettes I’m going to share below. They’re all special to me for different reasons but I love them all equally.

Bad Habit Supernova – released December 2017

I’m kinda cheating here because this whole brand was discontinued. I think it has something to do with how they duped a lot of popular, more expensive palettes. Whatever the official reason is I’m glad I picked this one up. I’m sure you can guess the more expensive counterpart.

While the formula is nothing like the one it’s duping, Supernova is still pretty decent. Some of the mattes swatch darker than they appear in the pan but overall I find them to be pretty soft and smooth. The shimmers need to be applied with a dampened brush or your finger to show true intensity. If you apply the shimmers with a synthetic you may be left disappointed.

Shade descriptions and swatches:

Top row

  • Sirius: pale pink metallic
  • Red Giant: medium fuchsia-violet metallic
  • Brilliance: light pastel nude rose metallic
  • Solar: duo chrome bronze/copper with pink highlight
  • Interstellar: medium mauve matte

Middle row

  • Ursa: dark grey mauve metallic
  • Andromeda: bright violet metallic
  • Nebula: bright fuchsia metallic
  • Cosmos: light warm champagne shimmer
  • Zenith: medium nude-grape matte

Bottom row

  • Lunar: medium smoky purple-grey matte
  • Spirit: medium peachy-pink duochrome with green highlight

ColourPop Sweet Nothings – released December 2018

As soon as this became available for purchase, I picked it up and it quickly became one of my favorite and most used palettes. It’s not the most vibrant but that’s what I appreciate. It’s great for those days where I don’t have a look in mind but I know I want something soft.

The mattes are not overly pigmented and can be built up, although these days I can feel them drying out so I have to build up the transition and creases shades. The shimmers in this palette are more muted so you won’t get anything too reflective even if you apply them with your finger or a dampened brush.

Nars Skin Deep – released January 2019

Skin Deep was a limited edition release with the infamous Naomi Campbell and I’m glad I was able to find a brand new, untouched palette almost a year after it was released. It’s a neutral color scheme that works on many skin tones and makes it easy to put a look together.

All of the shades in this palette show on my skin tone without having to be piled on. The only shade that needs a little work when applying is Coconut Grove, but it builds pretty well. It’s the perfect every day palette with easy to coordinate neutral shades.

Shade descriptions and swatches:

Top row

  • TAUNT (matte cream)
  • SOPHIA (matte rich cool brown)
  • WHIPPED (matte warm brown)
  • UNDRESSED (matte taupe brown)

Middle row

  • BALI (matte deep neutral taupe)
  • ICON (shimmering rosy gold)
  • BASIC INSTINCT (shimmering icy rose)
  • COCONUT GROVE (matte deep brown)

Bottom row

  • CENTERFOLD (shimmering grey beige)
  • CALENDAR GIRL (shimmering golden brown)
  • FASTER PUSSYCAT (metallic copper)

Let’s chat about which limited edition and/or discontinued palettes you still use and love. If you have any of these palettes and still use them, let me know.
